Our shop in the medieval city of Gloucester is located right in the heart of the city centre on historic Westgate Street, one of the busiest and most important market areas since the 13th century and the setting for Beatrix Potter's story 'The Tailor of Gloucester'. We are within sight and sound of the magnificent 900 year old architectural gem that is Gloucester Catherdral with its outstanding stained glass, 15th century tower, the tomb of King Edward 11 and beautiful cloisters boasting the first fan vaults to be seen in Britain. They were the location for the Hogwarts scenes in the Harry Potter films!
Our 16th centurt premises forms part of the old Fleece Hotel, originally built by the Cathedral (or the Abbey of St Peter as it was then) in c. 1500 to relive the pressure of pilgrims to the area. The shop has considerable character including an original Victorian style frontage with a splendid curved glass window. Local customers may already know Crystals from our Cheltenham shop.
The Gloucester Crystals is a tranquil haven away from the street with a friendly and welcoming atmoshere and fantastic displays of gemstone jewellery, wonderful natural rocks and minerals as well as carvings and books.
We look forward to serving you in Gloucester for years to come. |
